When was the last time you felt truly understood?
I am an honest, compassionate counsellor offering the kind of down-to-earth no-nonsense approach I would have appreciated when I attended therapy. I was a sceptical client, now turned therapist, so I have some idea of what you might be feeling.
I am a fully qualified person-centred counsellor (PG Diploma – level 7). I believe you will have been trying to deal with life in the best way you can, but sometimes we all need help. I listen carefully to understand your unique circumstances and we work together to fulfil your needs and give you the ability to make positive choices in life.
I provide short or long-term therapy for adults. I work with a whole range of issues but I have a personal interest or unique experience in the following specific areas:
- Anxiety & depression
- Separation & divorce
- British boarding school system
- Childhood sexual abuse
- Bereavement and loss
- Anger issues
- Health anxiety
- Loneliness
- Alcohol and drug use and abuse
- Weight issues
- Trauma
- Suicide
Having previously worked for about 30 years in the theatre industry, I also have insider knowledge of the difficulties that might affect creative professionals, including actors, musicians, dancers, directors, and producers. In addition to seeing those clients privately, I also get referrals through BAPAM (British Association for Performing Arts Medicine), which is usually funded through Equity, the Musician Union, or the Dance Professionals Fund.
I see clients throughout the UK online or by phone and see clients in person at my home in Wallasey, next to Wallasey Grove Road Station. You can see what my home therapy room looks like at the bottom of this page.
I offer complete flexibility in terms of length and frequency of appointments. I am happy to offer regular weekly sessions, but I also understand that a more flexible approach may be needed by some clients. Appointments can therefore be fitted in with both of our schedules, can be held in person. online or on the phone and session length can vary between 50 minutes and 2 hours (charged on a pro-rata basis).
- 50 mins – £50
- 60 mins – £60
- 90 mins – £90
- 120 mins – £120
I also see clients in Birkenhead, near Hamilton Square Station (additional £10 an hour) and in central Liverpool within easy access of any of the four central Liverpool stations (additional £20 an hour).
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). I have regular supervision and undertake continued personal and professional development. I am also fully insured and hold a current DBS certificate.
